Element: Establish coaching relationship
  • Identify areas for development according to organisational and individual requirements
  • Apply effective communication styles to develop trust, confidence and rapport
  • Make coaching arrangements on how the relationship will be conducted
  • Agree on expectations and goals
  • Seek input from relevant personnel, when required
       
Element: Provide coaching support
  • Assist individuals to clarify tasks, skills, duties and other requirements associated with their positions
  • Assist individuals to build required skills and expertise through demonstration, guidance, practise, advice and constructive feedback
  • Provide a supportive environment to allow individuals to work towards achieving required skill levels
  • Encourage individuals to make decisions and take responsibility for the courses of action or solutions under consideration
  • Provide assistance and guidance in a manner that allows individuals to retain responsibility for personal performance

  • Recognise and openly discuss changes in the coaching relationship
  • Make adjustments to the relationship to take account of the needs of both the coach and the individual

Assessment Tasks

Copy and paste from the following data to produce each assessment task. Write these in plain English and spell out how, when and where the task is to be carried out, under what conditions, and what resources are needed. Include guidelines about how well the candidate has to perform a task for it to be judged satisfactory.
Copy and paste from the following performance criteria to create an observation checklist for each task. When you have finished writing your assessment tool every one of these must have been addressed, preferably several times in a variety of contexts. To ensure this occurs download the assessment matrix for the unit; enter each assessment task as a column header and place check marks against each performance criteria that task addresses.
